It makes perfect sense to think about the things that I consider as milestones in the past twenty-seven years. Top of the list is the time I became convinced that what the bible claimed of Jesus Christ is sound and credible.
I took close to half a year in 2002 to investigate and come to a conclusion of who Jesus is. Weekly bible studies on campus, intense debates over suppers, endless questioning and the occasional denial (because it is easier not to think about things sometimes) went on for months.
Then just as a crime scene investigator would come to understand what had happened based on the evidence, the facts laid out in front of me clearly and plainly.
- Jesus is a true historical being who lived two thousand years ago
- He claimed to be God who created and has authority over the world (including us)
- The death and resurrection recorded by many witnesses is credible
- God created the world and he rules over everything.
- I refused to recognise who God is. I want to live by my own rules.
- The punishment of my rebellion is death and judgment.
- Jesus who lived in perfect submission under God, died in my place.
- God raised him up from the dead and made Him rule over the world.
- If I believe that, God accepts me and I will live with Him forever on earth and in heaven.
